Wicked

Matt and I had the opportunity to go see Wicked last Friday night. We bought our tickets last summer, got caught up in the holidays, new baby, etc. So it was a pleasant surprise to be able to have a night out and enjoy something grand as this.

I loved every minute of it, I hardly blinked. The scenery was amazing, I especially loved the Emerald City, how green it all was. I can't say enough about the music. I had chills at the end of "Defying Gravity" when Elphaba is singing. Matt loved it as well.

I am not much of a theater person, but this musical and Les Miserables (which we saw back in July 2005) are some of the best entertainment I have ever enjoyed. Maybe sometime in the near future, we will catch another one.

Hot Dog!

On Monday, June 22nd, Reagan turned 3!! We had a Mickey Mouse birthday party for her at the local park and even though it was pretty hot, we found some shade and it turned out pretty good. We had some pizza and drinks, the kids played as everyone arrived.

We had a few games. Matt was in charge of this section he did a dang good job. Here he is explaining the water balloon games.
We started out with a water balloon race.
The kids divided into 2 teams and had to race back and forth transferring the water balloons.
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to.Sweet Caleb.
Eliza was smiling and ready for the races.
Matt and I demonstrated the water balloon toss.
Most of the kids didn't get the concept of the toss and so we just threw our water balloons and watched them break.
Some of the older boys did, though. Trey enjoyed the toss!
The kids waiting for our next game: Pin the Tail on Mickey!!!
Lining up to pin the tail.
Blake pinning the tail, blindfolded.
Reagan refused to be blindfolded. She was nowhere near the tail, either :)
Time for the Mickey pinata!!
Tyler takes a swing. Makes a small dent in the ear.
Most of the kids take swings. Not much happening to Mickey.
The older boys take swings with a harder instrument. The birthday girl even gets a good whack at it.
Yeah, not much happening to Mickey. Someone built that thing well :)
Matt decides he may need to do the honorsCandy!!!!
Addie grabbing some of the loot.
Some of the moms help and baby Jonah snoozes through it all!
Rachel and her candy bag.
All that was left of our beloved Mickey pinata.
Nolan manned the balloons.
Time for cupcakes. It was a hot day, so you can see my cupcakes melted!
Blowing out the candles.
Enjoying some melted cupcakes.
Justin loved his.So did Reagan, after she played in the dirt.
Thanks for the frosting, mom, it was delish!
Present were next. Daniel helped Reagan figure out her purse.
Isaac and Daniel looked on as she unwrapped. After about two presents, it was time for a meltdown.Reagan chilled with Josh while Matt opened most of her gifts.
Posing for a group picture, this was after Tyler, Megan and Eliza left, though.
Thank you friends!! Hot diggity dog!

We went home and gave Reagan a nice long nap. After all, being the birthday girl is hard stuff.
Reagan wanted to eat dinner with Addie, so we headed to Chili's that night. The waiter said she could have a free dessert, so mom took control and chose it for her (wink, wink). What a surprise, it was the molten lava cake.
What a good day, I can't believe that she is 3! Time flies. It's been great.

What a Guy

Thanks to Matt for being such a great dad to our children! In the words of Michael Scott, he is an "awesome blossom, extra awesome."
As a special treat to fathers, here again is our favorite Jack Handy quote, we can laugh at this one forever.

One day Dad asked me to go fishing with him. I got scared. I had the feeling he was going to try to drown me. I don’t know why I thought that, because so far he had never tried to kill me. But he had never taken me fishing either, so I was suspicious.
When we got to the lake, he walked right up to it. "Hey, son, come here," he said. "Look at these minnows."
"Nice try, Dad - if that’s your real name!" I yelled.
Then I ran back to the car and locked myself in. Dad never took me fishing again. So I think that proves my case.

Three

Reagan turns 3 tomorrow! We have a busy day scheduled, so I wanted to post today about the delight that she has been in our lives!

-She has an infectious smile and is now saying "I love you" to us daily.
-She is pretty much pooping and pottying in the toilet full-time!
-She is a social girl and enjoys making friends.
-Just like dad, she adores Dumbo and is very concerned when Dumbo's mommy gets locked up (even though she has seen the ending 50 times)
-She also adores Mickey, Princesses, Oso, Einsteins, anything Disney-oriented.
-She likes to go to the mall and knows exactly where the "Mickey store" is. She could spend hours in there.
-She loves her brother and is the first to greet him in the morning.
-We still heat her milk up for her to drink.
-She can't wait to go to primary and talks about it all the time.
-She loves to sing and that is how she puts herself to sleep every night.
-She loves to play at the park.
-Although she is a fickle eater, her favorite food is pizza.
-Her favorite color is pink.
-She dresses herself these days and usually does not match.
-She is starting to warm up to the idea of water and swimming pools.
-She likes bubbles in her bath.

We sure do love her and she makes us laugh and smile every single day. I had a great time sifting through pictures of her and it brought back many memories of raising her these last 3 years. She has brought me so much joy as a mom. Enjoy!
June 18th was her due date (pictured above), but she didn't arrive until a few days later! She was 8 lbs, 1 oz.
