Fleet Week in San Francisco

We spent a really fun Saturday in San Francisco this month. We had passes to the Aquarium by the Bay on Pier 39 and it also happened to be Fleet Week, so we caught the air show. It was one of the funnest days we have spent as a family in recent memory. We enjoyed all of Nolan's favorite things: trains, airplanes, and boats! The kids LOVED the fish and of course, we had fresh clam chowder and sourdough bread from the wharf.

Here are the kids starting out our day at the Pleasant Hill Bart Station, waiting for the train!Link
Once on the train, Nolan eyes were huge. He loved it. We walked down Embarcadero from the train station and got to Fisherman's Wharf just in time to see the Blue Angels air show! It was pretty spectacular. They have the formation thing down and those planes are really loud! Sometimes you had no idea where they were in the air because the sound was all around you. Everyone would just be craning their necks back and forth until we finally spotted one coming around the buildings!
The kids loved all the boats at the marina--there were tons! And of course, all the seagulls. We have a pretty funny video of Nolan screaming at a bird.

At the Aquarium, Reagan was braver than mom and touched the sea creatures.
This is perhaps the proudest turtle I have ever come across. He seriously sat there with his head stuck out like this and Matt and I just laughed!
And this pic makes me want to barf. We went through one of those glass tunnels where all the sharks and rays are swimming all around you. This was one of the sting rays right above Matt's head. He has a slight Freddy Krueger looks to him.

Once we were ready to head home, it was chilly and the sun was going down. The city lights looked so pretty, though! This is along Embarcadero.

The Ferry Building, with the Bay Bridge lights in the background.
Fun fun day!

That looks like such a fun day! I love Nolan's permagrin. The one of him with his hands on the window where his big blue eyes are twinkling and he's sporting the biggest smile ever is adorable!!
