She's really trying...

Close, but no cigar...yet! Her crawling attempts end with her flopping down on her tummy and crying until I come and sit her back up. This is what I do all day!! Its hilarious, actually. For a while, I would lay out cheerios and Gerber fruit puffs on the floor in front of her, in order to get her moving. But then she began to expect them every time she was playing on the floor and I thought...Hmmm, maybe not such a good idea (at least not all the time!) But she really doesn't need bribes anymore, she really is attempting it on her own. Seeing her grow and develop daily is so amazing to me. I can almost see her brain working and maturing inside her. Its really cool.

As you can see, my home is not quite "baby-proofed" yet!

Perfect example...a purple colored pencil laying on the ground for anyone to grab. I turn my back just for a second and she had totally stuck it in her mouth and proceeded to color on her face. Priceless! At least it matched her clothes, right?

Rainy Day People

What is up with the rain? I really shouldn't say that because this earth needs the moisture, but with an 8 month old who wants nothing more than to get outside and a husband working loooong hours, I'm running out of entertainment ideas. So this is what I came up with:

Reagan's new favorite game is for mom to push her around the house in the laundry basket. We go a few extra rounds on the days that I don't get my exercise in!! :):)

This totally has nothing to do with this post, but tonight Matt and I watched the start of SuperNanny. Not my favorite show or anything, but I love her parenting tips and hey, now that I am a parent, that stuff interests and pertains to me. When the show started, I saw the couple and immediately said to Matt, "They are from Utah!" I have a knack for picking out those who live in Utah. They were very clean-cut, their style of dress was very typical of Utahn's. Biggest thing, though was the fact that they looked in their early 20's and had three kids and one on the way. Sure enough, I was right!!! It was fun to watch that. We could see their FHE boards and Families Are Forever plaques on the wall in the background. Kinda cool.

Jim is Dead Meat

Holy cow. Last nights episode left me a little speechless, but as you are about to find out, I now have plenty to say. Roy and Pam must be over, she would look like such a fool going back to him. Bye-bye Roy, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Honest Pam is coming in. His reaction was a little bit dramatic, I wondered whether I was watching Days of Our Lives. At the cocktail party, Karen came off kinda skanky, but retracted. I am thinking she really did get with a lot of guys and was just 'testing' Jim to see what his reaction would be. Wouldn't that be funny if the CFO was really one of them? And Jim with the CFO...he is headed for a promotion. That was the most random part of the show...them playing basketball. (Matt told me that in real life, Jim has some wicked b-ball skills!) Michael and Jan were hilarious, with Jan acting like the guy and Michael the girl. Does anyone else think she may be pregnant? She complained of nausea and sickness twice this episode. I don't think this relationship will last too long. Maybe into part of next season, I don't know. Her statement "Thats what she said" made Matt and I almost fall off the couch laughing. That was classic! One of the best parts of the episode, and one of the biggest reasons I watched the Office to begin with, was Dwight at the party. He was checking the banisters and fire alarm, too funny. Oh, and how creepy was that when he was sitting in the rocking chair? I would've freaked if I was that kid!

Well, there is much to think and ponder on, and we have plenty of time...rumor is 6 weeks until the next new episode! BOO!! Until then, we get to enjoy reruns. I will end this post with a warning: Jim, if you are reading this...RUN!!!

This is coming a little late, but congrats to Mel, Aaron, and Whitney on the new addition to their family!

Presentation is Everything

Food fascinates me. I noticed that some friends of ours who also blog always take pictures of their food. I am converted! I have always loved food and that may be a reason behind my profession:) I am all about the presentation. I don't claim to be Wolfgang Puck or anything, but my many semesters as a student chef at Skyroom Restaurant taught me a thing or two. Below is Matt's Valentines Day breakfast (which he enjoyed on a day that wasn't Valentines). I slaved over it, can you tell? The menu consisted of powder-dusted cinnamon french toast with a side of maple syrup, eggs over easy, crisp turkey bacon, and some freshly cut fruit. Let's not forget the decadent chocolate milk!

Thanks to my mom for getting me that You Are Special Today plate. It was a tradition in my family growing up and one that continues on in ours. It was a gift when I was a bride-to-be and I think the other Roundy daughters and daughter-in-laws enjoyed or will enjoy one as a gift as well.

Life is like a box of chocolates

This past Valentines Day was a first for me. I actually wanted chocolate! That's what most people give and get, right? Not me, I have never wanted candy or sweets, I usually ask Matt to refrain from buying any of that. Usually after the sweet-filled holidays, I don't want anything of that nature. But this year I did. I wanted some REALLY good chocolate. I think it had something to do with the Chocolate Week that was playing on the Food Network. Everything chocolate...how it is made, eaten, baked, etc. So I hinted to Matt that chocolate sounded good and he is no dummy. He took note of the hint and ordered some chocolate from a place called Secret Spoon Sweets. That really was some of the best chocolate I have ever had. It was a sampler box and my favorite two were the Dark Chocolate with Mint truffle and the Milk Chocolate with Caramel truffle. So if you are looking for some great chocolate, this is the place.

In other news, I loved last nights episode of the Office. I had the hardest time picking a quote, so click here for a page full of them...they are great! I think Season 3 will end up like Season 2 did, with the roles reversed. Pam will confess her love to Jim and he will have to choose between her and Karen. Just my prediction, it's probably wrong, but oh well. I felt so bad for Pam last night with her art show. Where is the love? But good ol Michael came through. The writers are brilliant at this. We had a few episodes where Michael made a complete fool of himself and we wondered if it was too much. Then he comes through and we remember why we love him.

We've been there!

I really can't stand golf. There is nothing that appeals to me about it, but Matt adores it, so I can't say too much! However, when I found out that the Pebble Beach golf tournament was going on right now, I was pretty excited because hey, we've been there!

Here are photos of the golf tournament. We've been having rainy weather, so the skies are stormy looking, but nonetheless the scenery is gorgeous.

We took a weekend trip down there and stayed in Monterey. We did the 17 mile scenic drive that ends right on Pebble Beach. What hole is this? I can't remember...

This is why we love California! Honestly, the coastline from San Fran down to Monterey was some of the most scenic I've ever seen. It has been almost two years since, but I haven't forgotten that trip! It was a fun time.

The new quote from The Office last night is a little long, but I thought it was the best line from the whole thing. Michael ended up getting kicked out of the wedding, which was funny, although his antics throughout the whole thing were too much for me. He knows how to make a complete fool of himself, that is for sure. I love how Creed put his card on a gift and also Stanley getting a toaster. Pam left with Roy...boo! I wonder what will become? I think we all know that Jim and Pam will end up together, but they will totally pull a Friends-y ending on us and have it be the last episode of the last season. We couls be waiting a long time.

In other news, Reagan is making leaps and bounds with her eating. She ate cut up peaches, green beans, string cheese, muffins, and watermelon. Her favorites are string cheese, banana, and applesauce. She is such a healthy eater, but we all know that in a few years she will just prefer the Wendy's chicken nuggets and fries, so I am savoring it while I can.

Matt is disappointed we will be missing our ward annual Chocolate Lovers Party tonight, so I have made some chocolate covered strawberries for him to help ease the pain. Sshhh, don't tell him (just kidding, he will totally read this before he comes home from work anyways).

Is pink a boy color?

Reagan is constantly being mistaken for a boy. Honestly, I really don't care. She doesn't have much hair and so yeah, she could pass for a boy. I usually feel bad for the people that think she is a boy because the minute I tell them he is really a she, they feel so bad! And more often than not, it is the elderly that are mistaking her. So, yesterday we were in Costco and she actually was enjoying riding in the cart (she normally doesn't care too much for it.) Thsi nice old man behind me in line is commenting on her and referencing 'him.' Then he asks how old he is and I say "she's almost 8 months." Then he looks surprised and says, "oh, usually I get these things right. I can tell by what their wearing, but what she is wearing goes both ways."

He was really a nice man, but the odd thing was that she was wearing all pink...head to toe. I just smiled because he really was sweet.

Here's to Lindsey

On Saturday night, Lindsey called me. She was at Roland's house and they were talking about the bart. No, not Marge and Homer's son, but the Bay Area Rapid Transit, Matt's hero and the train system that takes you into San Francisco from the East Bay. Apparently, Lindsey was explaining to Roland how the bart works and he didn't believe her when she told him "it goes in the ocean."

You're getting a visual, right? Like at Sea World, when you go in those underwater glass tunnels and see the sharks and tropical fish swimming around you hungrily...that must be what the bart is like. Nope, it isn't. I explained to Lindsey that it is a concrete tunnel and you never see a single drop of water. That train does not submerge into the water and then come splashing out, Little Mermaid-style, dripping wet. You enter an underground tunnel, somewhere on the Oakland side and stay in the tunnel while the train travels under the bay.

I'm not sure if Roland ended up believing her or not, he may have to see it for himself. I am just glad that I cleared up Lindsey's confusion by explaining exactly how the train travels through the ocean.

Don't worry, Linds, I wondered the same thing when I first moved out here. LOL

Swing Life Away

It was a chilly day, but I cannot complain since many people that will read this are living in temperatures 20-30 degrees colder than us. I'm a wimp!

Big Day

Today was a day of much excitement. The Colts won the Super Bowl and Peyton finally got his ring (or will get it soon). We had a fun time here in San Fran. The Berrett family came over and we ate hot dogs, Laura's yummy bean dip and chips, and had pepper malts. Pepper malts deserve another blog of their own, but to make it short, they are a yummy malt made with Dr. Pepper. Thanks to dad Roundy for making them for us over Christmas vacation and getting us addicted. I will post photos soon of our Super Bowl.

Another big deal today: Queen Mary 2 sailed right into San Francisco this afternoon, causing thousands to come out on a beautiful Bay area day to greet her. Here are some stills below. First of all, there is a new quote from last nights episode. It was really funny, but a little on the crude side, so this episode is not for the'easily offended.' Last nights episode made me laugh and here is why: Michael has done so many things that would have gotten him fired ages ago. Last nights episode featured him throwing a bachelor party on company time, hiring a stripper for that party, taking an employee to an adult themed store, and then admitting it all to his boss/secret girlfriend. Here is the deal: if Jan were to fire him, which she probably wanted to last night...then Michael could easily turn on her and admit they were having a secret relationship and Jan would be in trouble.

Maybe Michael is smarter than we really give him credit for!

Sunsets

If there is one thing Matt and I truly enjoy it is a beautiful sunset. We have been forunate enough to have seen some breathtaking ones over the last few years. The Bay area produces some gorgeous sunsets, especially this time of year, with all the rain. Below is the view from our deck this evening, around 5pm. Reagan and I usually take a stroll outside (it's her whiny hour) and enjoy the crisp air and beautiful sky.

How to Entertain Children

I have learned the secret to entertaining children (6 months and above). Just have other children around and they do all the entertaining. Seriously! This weekend was mine and Matt's weekend for baby-sitting and we had Adelaide and Jackson over. Matt and I sat around and watched the children entertain themselves with toys. They would watch each other play and talk in their little children talk and all was peaceful. Reagan could have sat there and watched the other two play all night long.
